How to Travel Light

Traveling light has its advantage esp. when you just bring a backpack.  Luggage with wheels may cause inconvenience. You wouldn’t want to get stuck in stairways, the uneven roads, sidewalk or pavements, etc. They can also get in the way when you are taking public transportation.

And when traveling ,always remember to TRAVEL LIGHT.
That's what I always tell myself and others.

So I'll give you some tips on how to travel light

  • Prepare your itinerary ahead of time
-In this way you would know what are the things needed on that particular day/trip,what to wear and estimates the cost of the trip. It helps you budget your trip when you make an itinerary.

  • Wear your heaviest clothing
    - such as jeans, running shoes, sweatshirt/jacket to save on space when departing. Replace your jeans with light-weight travel pants which take less space and dries quickly.

  • Bring light-weight clothes
-like leggings, tank tops, shorts, and one or two formal attire

  • Mix and Match Outfits
-If possible, note down what to wear on a certain day, either you go to a party, sightseeing or to the beach.
You can mix and match outfits without anyone noticing it! Haha

  • Toiletries?
-If possible buy it in your destination and buy in small packs/small amounts but if you wish to buy ahead then bring the small size/mini size still.

  • Sink-wash clothes
If you want to bring less clothes , then you can just sink-wash that only takes a day to dry.
Oh! and don’t forget your detergent placed in a zip lock bag.

  • Pick Shoes
-Pick the shoes where you can walk comfortably. And when departing choose to use the heavier shoes. Assuming you bring slippers, sandal and running shoes, then you would use the running shoes when departing and would just change in to your slippers when you arrived in your destination.

  • Check the climate conditions of your destination
-Check the weather report in your travel destination, so that you know what type   of     clothing you need to bring with you. For example, if the weather is going to be  warm, then there is no need for you to bring a heavy jacket. If it is going to be sunny, then bring a hat, etc.
    • Packing toiletries right.
-Pack dry toiletries in the same bag, and liquid toiletries in another same bag.
Take note that if you are going to be flying,SOP's says that liquid and gel toiletries must fit into a 1 quart/liter zip lock bag, and bottles should not be more than 3 ozs.

    • Pack smart and Be practical.
-Keep your necessary items(Money,Id's,Pen,Medicines, etc) in the top of your bag or in a separate hand bag. You'll never know what may happen when you travel.

Keep this guidelines whenever you travel.
I would love to hear some other tips from you guys :)

  1. Also be prepared in case your carry-on bag has to be checked/stowed. Keep important items in a small shoulder bag in case your checked bag goes missing.
